Hoping everyone headed to see the Dead 50 shows in Santa Clara tonight and tomorrow has a blast. In honor, let’s take a listen to the last time the Dead played Santa Clara - May 18th and 19th, 1968! (Well actually just the 18th, as the 19th doesn’t seem to exist on tape). This recording was made by none other than Jorma Kaukonen of the Jefferson Airplane, who set up a tape machine on the edge of the stage. The resultant recording captures the instruments beautifully, coming straight outta the amps, but unfortunately lacks a bit in the vocals department. As an added bonus, dig Jorma & Bobby shootin’ the shit after the show.
